Are you ready for one of the most adventurous rides of your life through Tanzania! Our thrilling excursion will take us through multiple national parks, lakes, craters, and volcanoes on Tanzanian dirt trails, sandy hills, winding mountain passes, and vast savannahs to dense forests. Feel the thrill of the open road as you navigate through the iconic Kilimanjaro National Park, into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site teeming with extraordinary wildlife.
Renowned for their distinctive culture, vibrant traditions, and close connection to their ancestral lands, we get an opportunity to interact with the beautiful people of Maasai.
This 12-day moto-trip concludes with relaxation and time off the bike in the magical island of Zanzibar.

FULL DISCLOSURE:
This is ADA's second guided motorcycle tour in Africa. Mechanics, local guides, support vehicles, and backup support will be with us all throughout, however as in any adventure our rides may not go as planned. We might have longer days than expected, meals might not always be at the expected times, and we may not get hot showers/air conditioners/heaters. We might have to ride in the rain or scorching heat. You get the idea but one thing is for certain, it’ll be an adventure and a half and if you’re up for a real adventure, this tour is for you.
*Moto Tour starts November 26th and ends December 7th. You fly home on the 8th morning unless you plan to join us for Zanzibar Island. In that case you’ll be with us till 11th December and fly home on the morning of 12th December.

Itinerary and Map
DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN ARUSHA (KILIMANJARO AIRPORT)
Prepare yourselves for an exhilarating journey with ADifferentAgenda, Africa. Upon your arrival at JRO airport, our esteemed staff will be there to give you a warm welcome. We'll transport you to your hotel, where you can freshen up. In the evening, you'll have the opportunity to meet your bikes. Our team will personally adjust them to your specifications and ensure they are in optimal condition for the adventures that lie ahead.
Once we've geared up, we're heading straight to Arusha's famous street for drinks and dinner. Meat and vegetarian options will both be available. During this evening, we'll provide you with a comprehensive briefing on the activities planned for the ride.
DAY 2 - ARUSHA – WEST KILIMINJARO
(190km – 6 hour ride)
The West Kilimanjaro Area is a pristine wilderness with plains, acacia woodland, and breathtaking Mount Kilimanjaro vistas. It teems with elephants, lesser kudu, gerenuk, bat-eared fox, and striped hyena. Conservation and cooperation with Maasai leaseholders ensure wildlife preservation.
DAY 3 - WEST KILIMANJARO – SAME
(150km – 5 hours)
We hit the road after breakfast and head south to the Pare Mountains riding along a curved dirt road. After a lunch stop we will take a dirt road to the Trans boundary Lake Jipe and then start heading uphill to Pare Mountains with views of the small towns/villages. The motel at Same has spectacular views of the South Pare Mountains and is the ideal gateway to Mkomazi National Park, the South Pare Mountains and Shengena Forest.
DAY 4 - SAME – LUSHOTO HIGHLANDS
(190km - 7 hours)
After breakfast we explore through the range of the eastern Pare Mountains where we will ride down to the southern ranges through fun dirt roads. The trail goes through virgin Savannah up to Lake Kalimawe which is surrounded by rice plantations and small villages. The ride continues adjacent to the area of Mkomazi National Park on the slopes. After a lunch break, we will start to explore the Usambara Mountains, small villages of Mnazi and Mlalo and palm forests. We are going to ride on the zigzag road up the Usambara Mountains at Mtae (Mambo village) over 2300m, which offers unique views over the region. This will be an exhausting day of riding and we will surely deserve a cold one!
DAY 5 - LUSHOTO HIGHLANDS – MAGOROTO FOREST
(200 km – 4 hours)
Magoroto with its tropical rainforest located on an altitude of 850m above sea level where temperatures are pleasant all year long. You will enjoy the lush rain forest with rare plants and bird species. Magoroto Cottages where we will spend the night are beautiful cottages, authentically built, are comfortable and with beautiful sunset views from your own terrace.
DAY 6 - REST DAY IN MOGOROTO FOREST
After 4 days of riding, It’ll be a good change to be off the bikes for a day. Plenty to do and see in the Margoto forest. Lakes, waterfall, hikes etc. Relax, rest up, for a fun ride the next day.
DAY 7 - MOGOROTO FOREST – MAASAI STEPPE
(250 kms – 7 hrs)
This is a unique opportunity to experience and explore the Tarangire and Manyara ecosystem. Maramboi Tented Camp offers permanent camp facilities and endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm lined desert between Tarangire and Manyara Lake. A visit to the area is essential for anyone interested in evolution and the origins of mankind and an explanation of the Rift Valley and Africa’s big picture. It is a complete semi-desert experience focusing on game animals in their natural habitat.
DAY 8 - MAASAI STEPPE -TARANGIRE MANYARA ECO SYSTEM
(300 kms - 8 hours)
After breakfast we start riding on a dirt road across a semi-arid savannah inhabited by wildlife and Maasai people living together. This Tarangire - Manyara eco-system we are riding through, is the migratory corridor of Tarangire wildlife. After lunch break, we will ride on the dirt road for about one hour before we reach a relaxing tarmac road which will take to the reserved accommodation for dinner and overnight.
DAY 9 - GAME DRIVE (TARANGIRI NATIONAL PARK)
This will be a day off the bikes and will go on a thrilling 4X4 Land Cruiser game drive in Tarangire National Park. The park's incredible biodiversity becomes apparent as we encounter numerous wildlife species, including elephants, giraffes, antelope, Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelle, and lions. In the late afternoon, we embark on another exhilarating game drive. Everywhere we look, there are monkeys, birds, and an array of animals. Keep a keen eye out, and you'll be delighted by the majestic jungle cats—lions, leopards, and cheetahs—observing the world around them. Animals can be spotted in trees, soaring through the air, blending into the bush, and gracefully moving through rivers and streams.
DAY 10 - TARANGIRE MANYARA ECO-SYSTEM – KARATU
(160km - 5 hours)
This ride will take you to Karatu to experience a visit to Ngorongoro Crater Park. There is a vast majority of wildlife in the crater and this will be an unforgettable adventure.
After breakfast we are going to leave the camp, riding on rift valley escarpment towards the Hadza community. This is a rocky and hilly road where it passes through different altitudes and vegetations down to Magara village, adjacent to Lake Manyara National park.
We will break for lunch, after which we will head to Karatu via lake Eyasi to meet the Hadza community, hunters and gatherers in east and Southern Africa. After which we will ride to the lodge in Karatu for the night.
DAY 11 - KARATU – LAKE NATRON
The trip will take you east along winding dirty trails away from the lush area surrounding the mountain and out into the Savannah scenery of the Maasai plains. You will ride towards the walls of the great Rift Valley at the base of which stands the mighty volcano Ol Donyo Lengai. This is an active volcano which last erupted in the 1970s. It is revered by the Maasai as the home of Ngai, their God. It is an almost perfect cone loom over an area of astonishing barren beauty. At the foot of the mountain there is an area of rocky desert and from here we make our way to Lake Natron. A huge soda lake, which stretches up to the Kenyan border. Flamingos come here to breed and in the late afternoon sun. The colorful Flamingo colonies make a spectacular sight, adding a dash of color against the shimmering water.
DAY 12 - LAKE NATRON – ARUSHA
After breakfast at the accommodation, we start riding and follow trails. Along the way, we will see the Maasai people in traditional dress tending their herds. There is a good chance of seeing game animals close to the track. Zebra and antelope are often in this area, perhaps we will even see a giraffe or if we’re super lucky we might encounter some elephants. We stop for a break at a huge crater and then push on to Engaruka for lunch. After lunch, we will head back to Arusha.
Rest up, get ready to go home the next day or follow us to the beautiful island of Zanzibar.
DAY 13 - FLY TO ZANZIBAR (OPTIONAL)
On the 13th day, we'll take a flight from Arusha to the Island of Zanzibar. Prepare for a well deserved three days of pure relaxation and unwinding in this stunning tropical paradise.
Visit local villages, interact with the warm and friendly Swahili people, and learn about their traditions and way of life. Experience traditional music and dance performances, and savor the flavors of Zanzibari cuisine, influenced by Arabic, Indian, and African culinary traditions.
Day 14 - EXPLORE ZANZIBAR ISLAND
Visit the former slave market

Day 15 - EXPLORE ZANZIBAR ISLAND
A Dhow for the ride in the starting point Snorkelings from different sites (Coral reefs)
There is a probability of seeing dolphins in Dhow during the trip (Have snacks and soft drinks)
Visiting the Kwale sandbank for short break
Visiting Kwale Island for Lunch
Tropical fruits and soft drinks on the island + beer
Visiting the old baobab tree and swimming at natural lagoons in the Ocean
Sailing back using a sail and not machines like old times
Day 16 - ZANZIBAR – ARUSHA
After 3 nights in Zanzibar Island we’ll fly back to Arusha for our last night together.
We’ll have time to do some last minute shopping and packing to get ready for our flights home. We’ll end our last day together with a farewell dinner.
Day 17 - FLY BACK HOME!
